Dirt Dozen Brass Band

Alex Wurman, a well known Los Angeles based film composer, has a number of successful movie scores to his credit. Among them was the Oscar winning documentary March of the Penguins. For a number of tracks in the Penguins score, he used one SF-24 active stereo ribbon microphone to record his Steinway grand piano.

Alex was kind enough to let us post a couple of piano parts from the Penguins score, as well as a clip from the upcoming movie The Nines that he scored. As with March of the Penguins, Alex used one SF-24 on a number of The Nines tracks, this time to record his Yamaha piano. These audio samples are from tracks where there was only the SF-24 on the piano.
