The electric
guitars were recorded on R-121's, with SM-57's and 421's blended
in on some tracks. |

For drum
rooms, Steve used an SF-24 phantom powered stereo ribbon mic out
in front of the kit, 6-7 feet high, with a pair of M-50's spread
out to the left and right of the SF-24. |

The Yamaha
piano was miked with a pair of Neumann U-67's and a pair of phantom
powered R-122's. Steve said "The U-67's sounded good and so did the
122's, but the combo of the two was rock solid, very warm and beautiful.
I was going to put the mics on separate tracks, but they sounded
so good together that I decided to commit to it. The balance between
the mics is about 50-50." |

All of
the brass was recorded on R-122's. |

Here's
Steve setting up mics on the harp. He ended up using a mono R-122
for the harp track. |
