Free dBooster with every R‑121

The first-call ribbon for electric guitar, brass and drum rooms, with the in-line Class-A booster that gives a passive ribbon the output of an active one. The dBooster doubles the R-121’s output, or quadruples it at the flick of a switch, with virtually no added noise.

Free dBooster2 with every SF‑12

Two matched ribbons in one body for “you-are-there” stereo on overheads, piano, strings and rooms, paired with the two-channel dBooster2: one clean Class-A gain stage for each side of the SF-12, and both channels double as DIs.

Why we pair them
A passive ribbon microphone is quiet by design. The 2.5-micron ribbon in an R-121 and the 1.8-micron ribbons in an SF-12 are so light that they put out only a few millivolts, and a lot of preamps and interfaces run out of clean gain before the mic gets to where it sounds best. The dBooster fixes that in the cable: a true Class-A input stage, an internal regulated supply for real electrical isolation, and a low-impedance output that drives long runs, splitters and vintage preamps without losing gain or adding distortion. The mic sounds like itself, just at the level you wanted.
With an SF-12, you need that on two channels, which is exactly what the dBooster2 is. Every Royer dealer has heard the pairing on a session; for a limited time they can put it in your hands for nothing.
How it works
- Buy a new R-121 or SF-12 from a participating Royer dealer through November 30, 2026.
- The dealer includes the matching booster with your microphone, at no charge. There is no form, code or mail-in.
- Plug it in between the mic and your preamp, switch on phantom power, and pick 12 dB or 20 dB of gain.
The fine print
- Offer available on new R-121 and SF-12 microphones purchased from participating authorized Royer Labs dealers through November 30, 2026, while dealer stock of the promotion lasts.
- Savings shown are the US MAP of the included dBooster ($199) and dBooster2 ($349).
- Single microphones only. Matched pairs of either microphone are not part of this offer.
- One free dBooster per R-121 and one free dBooster2 per SF-12.
- The free booster has no cash value and cannot be substituted or exchanged for other products or credit.
- Availability varies by dealer. If your dealer is not participating, the dealer list can point you to one who is.
- US MAP prices shown are in US dollars; prices outside the United States are set by your local distributor and dealer.
Hear them first
Both microphones are all over the Royer audio and video library. Try Sonny Landreth’s “Wind In Denver” for an R-121 alone on a Dumble, and Hans Zimmer’s “Light” for an SF-12 on a scoring stage. The dBooster demo shows the booster in line with a ribbon on acoustic guitar.
